Sustainability

What Sustainability means for BAU EKJU:

Wood, sourced from responsibly managed forests, is our exclusive raw material. Wood absorbs large amounts of carbon dioxide while growing, keeps it as a product and is very easy to recycle as a biofuel. Our wood comes from forests which are 100% replanted. And very often by ourselves and our family members.

Energy for process and heat comes from renewable resources. Heat energy is 100% bio-origin from our own wood shavings and residues. The same energy we use for wood-drying kilns. Electrical energy in our region is more than 50 % hydropower plant generated. In combination with our energy-saving actions, the footprint we leave is one of the lowest in the industry.

Work safety is our top priority and we constantly invest not only to increase the safety level of our production but also to make job positions easy to access and operate by persons of any age and gender. Even though woodworking used to be one of the toughest jobs, we are proud of our investments in achieving high automation and safety levels.

Product quality - Most of our wood products are used much longer than it takes a new tree to grow. Quality is key to achieving the desired product life. Both qualities - product design, including repairability and functionality and wood machining quality.
